ROAD USER CHARGE / DIESEL TAX
United Vehicle Rentals does NOT charge clients for the New Zealand Road User Charge / Diesel Tax
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Clients are permitted to drive their vehicle on any road in New Zealand except the following which are prohibited in all circumstances:
North Island:
Ninety Mile Beach - Northland
Cape Jackson to Port Colville - Coromandel
South Island:
Skippers Canyon - Queenstown
Ball Hutt Road - Mt Cook
ON ROAD ASSISTANCE
It is a client obligation to contact United Vehicle Rentals should any problems be experienced with the vehicle.
United Vehicle Rentals offers a 24 hour telephone number for On-Road Assistance in case of accidents or breakdowns - phone 0800 759 919.
ONE WAY HIRES
One way hires are possible between Auckland and Christchurch and vice versa providing the rental period is a minimum of 14 days.
DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
All drivers must be 21 years of age or older and hold a current valid driver's licence, to be produced at the commencement of the hire. A country of origin licence may be used, however non English licence holders must carry an accurate English translation certified by an appropriate authority. Please enquire for further details. An International Driving Permit is acceptable. No heavy vehicle or other special licence is required to drive any United Campervans or Alpha Campervans vehicle in New Zealand.
TRAFFIC INFRINGEMENTS
All traffic infringements are the responsibility of the hirer. United Vehicle Rentals reserves the right to pass on details of the hirer's home contact to the New Zealand Traffic authorities when requested.
ANIMALS
United Vehicle Rentals regret that animals are not permitted to travel in any of their vehicles.
VEHICLE SUBSTITUTION & DESIGN
United Vehicle Rentals will make every effort to provide the vehicle requested, but where a vehicle is unavailable for any reason they reserve the right to provide a comparably high standard vehicle at no extra cost to the client. While including the same facilities, vehicle layouts may vary slightly to those shown due to manufacturer's design changes.
CANCELLATIONS
The following cancellation fees will apply:

35% of the total reservation cost |
| 1 - 6 days: |
60% of the total reservation cost |
| Day of pick up or No Show: |
100% of the total reservation cost |
We strongly recommend that before travelling you take out travel insurance to protect yourself against most legitimate reasons for cancellation.
Please note: The early return of a vehicle does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
PAYMENT
A deposit equivalent to 10% of the total cost must be made to secure a booking. Final payment must be received no later than 35 days prior to vehicle collection. Payment may be made by:
- cheque (within New Zealand only and subject to clearance of full amount being made no later than 35 days prior to collection);
- bank transfer; or
- credit card (we accept Visa or Mastercard). If you wish to pay by credit card please contact us for access to our secure credit facility.
