New Zealand really is an all-seasons destination. If you enjoy snow and winter sports, then June to August is the best time to come to New Zealand. The seasons are the exact opposite to the Northern Hemisphere, so the warmer months of November through to April are ideal for outdoor exploration.
Summer (December to February) is the best time to discover the Kiwi way of celebrating life as there are numerous food and wine festivals to visit throughout the country. The weeks around Christmas are peak time anywhere you go, as this is when the Kiwis have their own holidays.
Whichever time of the year you travel in New Zealand, it is always a good idea to bring comfortable shoes and casual clothes that you can wear in layers - shorts and T-shirts, but also sweaters and a waterproof jacket. Even on a hot day, it can cool down quickly when the sun goes down. We advise you to come prepared for changing conditions.
